These lovely working girls were taken straight from Captain Dug’s collection.
Captain Dug (or in his formal name Dug Picking), a sailor from the State of Nevada (they got a great beach there…), created a collection of ceramic decanters that were made after Nevada’s most famous bordellos. Each brothel carried a limited amount of its own decanter and sold it to its very happy customers. Aside from his brothels collection, Dug also made several more decanters such as the Arizona Charlie series and the two West Indies sailboats that are also very popular.
Prostitution by the way is legal in the State of Nevada and I bet the captain had his own way to get inspired while creating these decanters…
These are all real places and some of them still actually operate (Not based on any personal experience or something… i was just told…)
Again: not the classic bourbon bottles i am after but sure worth keeping. They are all actually used to be filled with Dug’s Famous Mai-Tai that was served in Dug’s restaurant “West Indies”. By the way, take a look at the last decanter, “Shady Lady Ranch”. This one was actually a prototype that was made only 50 times! Last time it was on eBay it went over $800 so this is definitely the eye candy in this album. This is by far my favorite set decanters-wise and a lot of it has to do with some good fellow collectors who helped me accomplish it for a reasonable price (and by that also saved my marriage..)
Unfortunately for me I haven’t had a chance to meet the captain in person but I know people who did and i was able to obtain some literature about him and one thing is for sure:
